Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to attend every court date?

Not for mentions and adjournments — Sacha can appear on your behalf under a written authority. You will generally need to attend for the sentencing hearing or contested hearing itself. Sacha will tell you which dates require your personal attendance.

What should I bring to court?

Dress neatly — no singlets, thongs, or hats inside the courtroom. Bring any documents Sacha has asked you to prepare: character references, employment letters, course completion certificates. Phone on silent.

Can I get a fixed fee for my matter?

Yes. Every matter Civic Law handles is on a fixed fee, confirmed before any work begins. Magistrates Court guilty pleas start at $2,100. Mentions are $950. Work licence applications are $1,500. View all fixed fees.

How long will my matter take?

A straightforward guilty plea can be finalised in one hearing — typically 2 to 4 weeks after the first appearance. Contested hearings take longer, often 2 to 4 months. Sacha will give you a realistic timeframe at the first consultation.

What if I am arrested and need bail urgently?

Call Sacha immediately — she takes calls after hours — including weekends and public holidays. Urgent bail applications can usually be heard the same day or next business day. For show cause matters, early preparation is critical.
